CASC, Ministère de l’Économie, des Finances et de la Souveraineté industrielle, énergétique et numérique
139 rue de Bercy, Paris

On 10 November 2026, EDHEC Quantum Institute will take part in the “Colloque sur la seconde révolution quantique”, organised by the SEE and the editorial team of Annales des Mines at the CASC, 139 rue de Bercy, Paris. The one-day conference will bring together leading representatives from research, industry and public institutions to discuss the technological, industrial and strategic implications of the second quantum revolution.

The event will open at 9:00 am, following a welcome coffee at 8:30 am, and will be structured around a series of presentations and roundtables covering Europe’s quantum strategy, international developments in North America and Asia, quantum engineering, technological maturity, sovereignty, enabling technologies, industrial challenges, business applications and quantum skills.

The conference follows the publication of a two-volume special issue of Réalités industrielles, the quarterly series of Annales des Mines, dedicated to “La seconde révolution quantique : Enjeux de souveraineté et de partenariats”. The first volume focuses on issues, technologies, sovereignty and skills, while the second explores early applications and international perspectives. Together, they provide a broad overview of the emerging quantum ecosystem, from enabling technologies and fault-tolerant quantum computing to use cases in finance, energy, transport, telecommunications, chemistry and pharmaceuticals.

EDHEC Quantum Institute will contribute to this strategic conversation in several ways. Lionel Martellini, Professor at EDHEC Business School and Director of EDHEC Quantum Institute, is among the authors of the Annales des Mines special issue. His article, “L’usage du calcul quantique en finance - La perspective d’un institut académique à l’interface entre technologies et usages”, examines how an academic institute can help bridge quantum technologies and concrete business applications in finance.

At 3:15 pm, Lionel Martellini will also moderate the roundtable dedicated to business applications, with a focus on transport, banking and finance, telecommunications and energy networks, pharmaceuticals and chemistry. This session will address one of the central questions facing the quantum ecosystem today: how can organisations move from scientific promise to practical experimentation, and eventually to value creation?

These topics are directly aligned with the mission of EDHEC Quantum Institute. Founded and directed by Lionel Martellini, the Institute aims to help organisations and society navigate the transformations brought by the second quantum revolution. Its work is structured around research, education, innovation and outreach, with a particular focus on applied quantum technologies for finance, insurance, information and communications.

EDHEC Quantum Institute has chosen to support the conference as a Gold sponsor. This commitment reflects the Institute’s ambition to contribute actively to the development of a rigorous, application-oriented and accessible quantum ecosystem. It also underlines EDHEC’s role in connecting scientific advances with the needs of decision-makers, businesses, students and society at large.

For EDHEC Quantum Institute, the second quantum revolution is not only a technological shift. It is also a matter of education, strategic understanding and responsible adoption. Quantum technologies will only create value if organisations are able to identify where they are relevant, where they are not yet mature, and how they can be integrated into existing industrial, financial and scientific practices.

By taking part in this conference, contributing to the Annales des Mines special issue and supporting the event as a Gold sponsor, EDHEC Quantum Institute reaffirms its position at the interface between quantum science, business applications and societal impact.
