Research in Quantum Physics and Technologies

Research on quantum technologies for finance, communication and decision-making, grounded in EDHEC's expertise in finance and risk.

Three research initiatives, one question: what quantum changes for decision-makers

The EDHEC Quantum Institute does not build quantum hardware. Its research asks where quantum technologies will create value, where they will create risk, and how the people running businesses and public institutions can tell the difference.

Quantum Technologies for Finance and Insurance examines what quantum methods can and cannot yet deliver in portfolio construction, risk simulation and pricing. Quantum Technologies for Information and Communication, a joint laboratory with EURECOM, studies the security and performance of tomorrow’s networks, starting with the post-quantum migration organisations need to begin today. Foundations of Quantum Mechanics underpins both: a more intuitive reading of the theory, so that leaders can weigh vendor claims and time their investments with a clear head.

Research Programs

The Institute runs three research initiatives: two sector verticals and one transversal foundation.

Quantum Technologies for Finance and Insurance →
Where quantum methods can create value in portfolio construction, risk simulation and pricing, and where they cannot yet.
Quantum Technologies for Information and Communication →
A joint EDHEC-EURECOM laboratory on post-quantum security, quantum key distribution and the performance of communication networks.
Foundations of Quantum Mechanics →
A more intuitive reading of quantum theory, to make it intelligible to the decision-makers and policymakers who will have to act on it.

Featured Publications

Research notes, articles and position pieces from the Institute

Puce quantique

The Institute's researchers publish on the foundations of quantum mechanics, on quantum methods in finance and on the security of communication networks.

Recent work includes a chapter in A Portrait of Quantum Technologies in Finance and an article on quantum computing in finance for Réalités Industrielles (Annales des Mines).
