On 8 March 2027, the EDHEC Quantum Institute and Institut Louis Bachelier will host an event at the Palais Brongniart in Paris dedicated to the latest advances in quantum finance research.
Designed to foster dialogue between academia and the financial industry, the event will give leading researchers an opportunity to present their work to finance professionals. Its ambition is to make recent scientific developments accessible to an audience without specialist expertise in quantum technologies, while preserving the rigour needed to understand their findings, limitations and potential applications.
Quantum computing is opening up new avenues of research for addressing some of the particularly complex problems encountered in finance. Portfolio optimisation, derivatives pricing, risk management and quantum machine learning are among the areas currently being explored by researchers.
However, the prospects associated with these technologies must be considered carefully. While some research points to significant potential, many applications remain theoretical or limited to experimental demonstrations.
The event will therefore offer a rigorous and realistic assessment of the current state of research. It will seek to distinguish established findings from longer-term possibilities, while acknowledging the scientific and technological uncertainties that
