On 17–18 November 2026, the EDHEC Quantum Institute takes part in the World Quantum Cannes Festival, a European event dedicated to quantum technologies, held in Cannes. As a partner, the Institute will host a booth, deliver a keynote on quantum finance by Lionel Martellini, organize the festival’s public conference, and moderate a panel on “HR & Talents: Building a Quantum Workforce,” led by Camille Georges.

What to expect

Held in Cannes, the festival brings together key international stakeholders (researchers, industry leaders, investors, and public decision-makers) with a shared ambition: to accelerate the transition of quantum technologies from research to real-world applications. At a time when the ecosystem is rapidly structuring and questions of technological sovereignty are becoming increasingly critical, the festival is a significant venue for dialogue and collaboration across the field.

Throughout the event, our teams will welcome you at our booth, a dedicated space designed to foster conversations with executives and partners, and to explore the business implications of quantum technologies for organizations.

Scaling Quantum Finance: From Experimentation to Adoption

Lionel Martellini
Keynote by Lionel Martellini

On this occasion, Professor Lionel Martellini, Founding Director of the EDHEC Quantum Institute, will deliver a keynote on Quantum Finance, sharing his perspective on the transformations ahead for financial markets and risk management in the quantum era. This presentation will examine how banks, asset managers and other financial institutions are exploring quantum technologies across portfolio construction, risk management, derivatives pricing, and machine learning. It will distinguish promising use cases from premature claims, review the main barriers to adoption, and discuss how hybrid quantum-classical approaches, industry partnerships, and capability building can help move quantum finance from isolated pilots toward scalable applications. Panel moderation: HR & Talents, Building a Quantum Workforce

Camille Georges, Deputy Director of the EDHEC Quantum Institute, will host the HR & Talents: Building a quantum workforce session. She will moderate the panel “Are quantum skills development efforts keeping up with industry demand?” Bringing together leading experts from academia and the quantum ecosystem, the discussion will explore how education, training, and cross-sector collaboration can address the growing demand for quantum talent and help build the workforce needed to support the quantum economy. See the Institute’s executive education programs.

Open public conference

On the evening of the festival’s first day, the EDHEC Quantum Institute will sponsor and host a public lecture. The guest speaker will be announced shortly. Reflecting the Institute’s commitment to making quantum science accessible, the lecture will explore how advances in quantum technologies are transforming our understanding of the world and their implications for society.
