Quantum Executive Education

Quantum Executive Education at the EDHEC Quantum Institute prepares business leaders and decision-makers to act on quantum technology, regardless of their background. Its short, non-technical programs focus on the strategic risks and opportunities quantum creates across sectors.

Why business leaders need quantum literacy now

Quantum literacy has become a strategic requirement for senior leaders, and most organizations are not yet ready. Bain & Company estimates that about 90% of companies are unprepared for quantum security threats. ISACA reports that only 4% of organizations have a defined quantum strategy, and roughly 91% have no roadmap for the risk quantum computing poses to current encryption. Closing the gap between awareness and readiness is where executive quantum literacy begins.

Executive education at EDHEC Quantum Institute: our approach

Short, non-technical, decision-oriented

The programs are built for decision-makers, not engineers. They translate quantum science into the language of strategy, risk, and investment, so participants can evaluate what quantum means for their organization without learning to program a quantum computer. The emphasis is on judgment: knowing which claims to trust, which questions to ask vendors, and when to act.

The first quantum institute hosted by a business school

Hosting a quantum institute inside a business school is an international first, and that vantage point is what separates executive education from technical training: the same scientific rigor, read through the lens of business decisions. Academic direction comes from faculty with a track record in quantitative finance and risk, including Professor Lionel Martellini, Founding Director of the EDHEC Quantum Institute.

Our programs

Custom programs for organizations

The Institute currently works with organizations on custom programs, designed around a specific sector, function, or risk profile. Each engagement is scoped with the client and can be delivered on-site or online, combining expert-led sessions, real-world case studies, and collaborative workshops. Register your interest and the Institute will come back with a proposed format.

What is coming next

An open-enrollment offer is in development, starting with a program on quantum for finance. A structured quantum-readiness pathway is also being designed, and will be presented alongside the Institute’s Quantum Risk Assessment Framework. To be notified when either opens, register your interest.

What you will learn

Core quantum concepts for executives (non-technical)

Superposition, entanglement, and measurement, explained through business analogies and everyday reasoning about uncertainty, with no prerequisites in mathematics or physics. See the quantum glossary for plain-language definitions.

Business impact by sector

Quantum technologies create both risk and opportunity, and the balance differs by industry. The programs examine concrete cases in finance, pharmaceuticals, logistics, manufacturing, telecommunications, and cybersecurity, and connect them to the Institute’s Quantum Risk Assessment Framework for evaluating exposure. Explore the applied work on the Impact for business pages.

Faculty & academic credentials

The programs are taught by EDHEC faculty and EDHEC Quantum Institute researchers, drawing on the Institute’s three research initiatives, Foundations of Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Technologies for Finance and Insurance, and Quantum Technologies for Information and Communication. Academic direction is provided by Professor Lionel Martellini, Founding Director of the EDHEC Quantum Institute and a specialist in quantitative finance and risk. [Faculty roster and reviewer names to confirm.]

Who should attend

C-suite executives and board members responsible for strategy and risk; innovation, strategy, and cybersecurity teams preparing for post-quantum migration; and organizations that want a shared quantum vocabulary across the enterprise. No scientific background is required. For a student-focused pathway, see Quantum education for EDHEC students.

FAQ

No. These programs are designed for professionals who do not have a background in physics or mathematics. The concepts are presented through analogies with the business world and discussions of uncertainty, allowing you to assess the strategic implications without having to learn how to build or program quantum systems.

For most executives, yes. A concise program is sufficient to critically analyze the industry, scrutinize vendors’ claims, and brief the board of directors. It provides a basic understanding of quantum technology without requiring the time needed for technical training, and serves as a useful first step before building a larger team.

Yes. Tailor-made programmes are the option currently on offer. The content, duration and delivery method are agreed with you based on your sector, your role and your risk profile, and the programmes are then delivered either face-to-face or online.

Not yet. An open enrolment programme is currently being developed, with the first course focusing on quantum computing applied to finance. Sign up to be notified as soon as the dates are available.

The finance and telecommunications sectors are examined in depth, as they align with the Institute’s research programmes. The pharmaceutical, logistics, manufacturing and cybersecurity sectors are explored through real-world case studies. Any sector facing complex optimisation problems or handling sensitive data with a long retention period would be well advised to take an interest in this.
